Buuuut... He's doing something for her. Edit: I really didn't think I needed the /s. Some people need a sense of humor...

Anybody who’s regularly ridden a bike in the rain knows that the real water threat is the spray from the front wheel

Read it as "humidity is greater than status". Made sense then as well.

I flipped this scenario in my head. She offered him an umbrella so he said sure and offered her a ride home as thanks. Problem is I kept that scenario going and it ended up a porno quite quickly.

Op your title is not stupid, but it has notjing to do with the pic. Also why is he sad?

My mom has always said "the best way to tell somebody's character is to watch how they act towards someone that they don't think matters or is important". I think this picture is a great example of that.

    emmyx2806

I like that picture. The man is doing something for the woman and the woman is doing something for the man. That‘s really great and a really good sign for humanity.

    ReadyAimSing

Whatever cognitive mechanism allowed you to type the words "those who can do nothing for you" to describe a barefoot rickshaw driver literally hauling someone's ass in the rain needs to be listed in the DSM 5, so that future generations -- if this virus with shoes is lucky enough to have any -- can figure out the pathology of how capitalism rotted people's brains.

    pk_remote

The picture is probably in reference that the woman is higher in status in the caste system. There is probably cultural context that is being missed here.

Former 5 year pedicabber who worked in atx and other places. This never happened for me but the passengers under my canopy always took pity and load the tip at the end. I loved riding in the rain.

So nice of him to give this lowly umbrella holder a ride.
  • Posted: July 12, 2019 09:57

    Sharkonabicycle

Obvious what's going on here. The rain looks to be going to the left (in the image) a bit, so she's proactively putting out the umbrella to save her shoes. This guy needs to invest in a better transit bicycle with an actual top. Hopefully she didn't tip him.

I hate to tell you this but neither of those things are going to stop crap. They will both be soaked af. I had to ride to work on a bike in the rain, and I had a knee length poncho on. I was drenched everywhere but my shirt. It suckeeed. The rain hits you from the front since you are moving and reks your feet/knees.

The title is in conflict with the image. This just looks like cooperation. Making the rickshaw drivers job easier in turn gets her home potentially quicker. I mean... it's a nice depiction of human decency sure... but this isn't a case of doing something for those who can't do anything for you. The image has a lot of quid pro quo, they are both doing something for eachother.

It's not status. It is one bloke who is working and another person who is commuting. Each just doing their daily errands, relax.
