It's true that most all success stories have an element of persistence, but it's equally true that success stories involving dogged persistence suffer from survivorship bias. The stories of people who realized their ambitions were irrational and quietly gave up, those don't make good motivational posters... but theirs is insight that's equally important as the value of persistence, given that you can't get back wasted time or the cost of opportunities missed while you were off chasing something that was doomed to fail.

Baloney. The first fruits produce om about a 2-3 year old tree and then continue to produce year over year. Fruits aren't the last thing a tree makes.... The tree continues being a tree, growing, and producing even more fruit, until you cut it down. The last thing a tree makes is more tree.

    Mr_Gaster

Yes, Dedication and patience is key to success... Except when someone cuts down your tree or salts the ground so much there is no hope left for the tree... That's how I got depressed and nearly tried to kill myself about 2 years ago. Years of trying to be good at something, getting ones life better, only to be broken by people you never did any harm to just because they can. Learn it from someone who learned it the hard way: Don't stand out too much, be persistent and nice to people but never open up to everybody you know and watch out who you're dealing with, someone might seem nice but will use your weaknesses to ruin you because they are rotten to the core.
