92 pounds down. Fit AF. I keep seeing myself walking past shop front windows and wondering who that is. 90 percent done with weight loss, but I know I am only half way there. Do the things and it works and you know you made it happen. Other people might be happier about it all than I am. I just bought a Miata as present to myself. I smile every time I drive it :-).

All the matter is the first part that involves YOUR BODY in the first 4-weeks, fuck everyone else after that, none of that shit means anything unless you are doing things to impress others with your ability to change. The danger of that is the lack of motivation. Do it for yourself. Do it for your future self.

This is arbitrary as hell, and not everyone either change at the same rate or is at a stage when is that noticeable. Also, the times I changed it was first noticed but external people as they did not saw me everyday, unlike me and my family

On the first day you will experience a rush of endorphins and serotonin and you will sleep better. I believe these immediate feedback responses are a better long term motivator than changes in your appearance. And then when you really do start looking better you can say, “Oh yeah! There’s this too!”

    tbhihatemyself

Everyone talking from weight loss perspective, but nobody talking about the mass gaining struggle perspective of a twig human. The massive meals you have to force yourself to consume. The constant soreness. All in hopes of gaining a measly 2-5 lbs/week and then have your body burn through 10 of them when you forget to eat right for a couple of days. But people do notice after 12 weeks and it feels pretty good.

I'm about 3 weeks in and it took only about 2 weeks for me to start noticing. Family noticed quickly as well. General people (like coworkers and friends), haven't said anything yet. I made a pretty major change though, went from eating high calorie breakfasts, standard lunch and dinner, and unhealthy (chips, baked goods) snacks in the morning and night, and a dessert to finish the day, down to eating only once per day (24 hr fast) every other day and twice per day with no snack. Plus went from sedentary to lifting daily + hiking more.

Very true. I started bodybuilding last summer. I never missed a scheduled day. 3 months later near the end of the summer, it was a nice summer day. I went out in a muscle T and I got a compliment on my arms from a complete stranger. Was wierd, but felt really nice.

I honestly feel like it's the opposite...? It takes me longer to notice differences because I see myself multiple times every day in the mirror. However friends who don’t see me for maybe a week tend to see the difference right off the bat.

Wouldn’t you looking at yourself daily see less change than someone who hasn’t seen you recently? And the rest of the world is a weird association. Most of the rest of the world has no idea what you look like.

    my_research_account

This assumes a positive mindset. From what I understand, most people who are depressed and suffering self-esteem issues have a difficult time seeing a difference in their bodies until after other people notice. Sure, they'll notice the numbers on the scale are different or that their pants are looser, but they have a difficult time seeing positive change when they look at themselves in the mirror until others have repeatedly pointed it out.

1 year in and no one really notices unless I wear a really tight shirt. Even then most of them only say "You've gained weight." Not "Do you go to the gym?" lol. Hopefully after year 2 is over I'll actually look like I lift. 😒

Getting healthy for the sake of your image will almost always fail. This is a shit motivation post. If you focus on how good you feel and the difference eating well and exercising makes in your life, it will become something you seek out rather than a chore.
