And to think he was about a week or two away from quitting Marvel until he did the Fantastic Four. His wife suggested, well if you don't like the company and your going to quit anyway, just make a book the way you would like to do it, then you can quit.

Making someone smile is never a small thing. If everyone in the world could try to make other people smile instead of themselves, everyone would have billions and billions of people looking out for them, instead of just one. Ofcourse, oversimplification, but it’s just a thought I have a lot Edit: everyone who agrees, Change your FB profile picture to something or whatever, THATS how you instigate real change /s. But for real even >20upvotes are way more than I expected, humanity is more than ourselves and we only succeed together. I’m just an anonymous dog on reddit but I’m so proud of all of you

This speaks to me pretty directly. All my friends have fancy jobs, houses, and debt. I have my stories and I hope it can turn into something, anything. It's terrifying to dream about. It's feels like if I look directly at what I want for myself it'll wither and die before I ever hold it in my hands. I try to tell myself I'm just being an idiot.

What are you talking about? He was chief editor before 20, he didn't have to give up anything or go through a real "I'm doing the wrong choice" in his life. He's great and all but let's keep it real: he didn't struggle. He didn't have to envy any of his "doctor friends". He's not representative of all those guys working their ass off to get peanuts for their artistic work. I'm not even an artist and I know it.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say, sometimes you should give up on your dreams. Wanting something and working toward it, doesn’t always equal success. A lot of ppl don’t get what they dream of. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Lately I've been dreaming of quitting my career in aerospace and pursuing stand up comedy. I was just getting good after 2.5 years and I got hit with the nightshift. Now I am going to have to work during the time I was performing and I'm going to lose my edge a bit, but I've been planning on working a lot of overtime to completely dissolve my debt and enable me to quit if I want to. Nightshift sucks and so does overtime, I've lost much of my youth to these things.

As an engineering student who has a bunch of med and law student friends, I hate us. Jesus Christ, these people can be such condescending pretentious assholes. Most of us are bitter and just went with the "safe" route. I'm so much more impressed and interested when I meet someone who is in the arts. They had the balls to go into a risky profession and are always more passionate and usually have more chilled personalities.

I'm an actor, and I've been thinking about this quote a lot lately. How often I've been embarrassed to be forward with my passions and pursuits, out of fear of judgement and assessment. I'm promising myself to stop apologizing for being actively in pursuit of a passion (and frankly to be in a good position to do so). I hope someone else out there needed to hear that, too. To know we, the dreamers, aren't alone and we can do this.

I love clothing. Specifically used clothing. So much in fact I’m trying to make a business out of it. Not making any money so far but I’m working at it. Lots of people around me are making good money and I’m embarrassed to tell them about my dream but this quote made me feel a bit better. Clothes to me ARE entertainment. And I’m sure they are to a lot of other people to. People need joy in their lives whatever that may be.

Oh, but he did so much more than merely entertain people. He MADE my childhood. He showed me that sometimes live throws at us things we don't want, don't need, and don't know how to handle, but with the right attitude and good heart, we will persevere. He taught me that it's okay to be weird and nerdy, especially when it's genuine. His comics and characters shaped a lot of young people.
