"You will one day rise, stronger from the swim & richer from the pearls." Edit: Here is the real quote. "However, this dark place is not the end. Remember that the darkness of night precedes the dawn. And as long as your heart still beats, this is not the death of it. You don't have to die here. Sometimes, the ocean floor is only a stop on the journey. And it is when you are at this lowest point, that you are faced with a choice. You can stay there at the bottom, until you drown. Or you can gather pearls and rise back up -- stronger from the swim and richer from the jewels."

Reminds me of that quote from Will Smith. I can't recall it verbatim, but it's basically about how you don't set out to build the best wall ever; you set out to lay a single brick as well as you can lay it. Then you learn how to lay the next brick even better. You keep focusing on laying every brick to the best of your ability and one day you step back and realize you've build an amazing wall.

That’s why people who get rich overnight often don’t know how to handle it. Often times they end up losing all their money and ending right back to where they started. Having missed all the valuable lessons and satisfaction of earning that success for themselves.

    Khaki_Sweatervest

It's 2am and this caused a thought nearly 30 years in the making. I've struggled with depression my whole life, and have been doing my best through it and continuing to live and function and push through it so someone could learn from my example. I've suffered for what felt like an eternity, a passenger on my own emotional roller coaster and finding ways to ride it out easier and easier after accepting my life on the roller coaster. But seeing this, always wondering why I continue without anyone to learn from me or anything to gain from it, it all clicked. I do it for me. Not because I need to be there for other people, but because I deserve the skills and graceful, emotional accessibility that I believe everyone else deserves from me. The little lessons, the big lessons, the fun lessons, the painful lessons, the long lessons, the short lessons, the all need to be learned through experience. I learn what I need from them to build myself to the next one, it took a long lesson to stop overthinking and another long lesson to learn to let go of emotions. I'm still learning those, I doubt I'll ever stop learning. But seeing this... I'm the reason I push on, I'm the reason I feel and think, and I'm the reason I have all these lessons in my head; to apply them. Thank you for posting this, /u/starfirenite.

I dont know who the fuck that is but hell yes. I am currently building on experiences and I am learning, and the little voice in the back of my mind that's saying it is bringing me down is being DROWNED out by the voice in the front of my mind that's saying ITS MAKING ME STRONGER AND I AIN'T GONNA STOP. I AM NOT GOING TO STOP JUST CAUSE SOMEONE SAID I COULDN'T!!!!!

Survivor bias in full display. Also that name :') Edit: I did not know this guy and didn't realize he died, which makes my sentence a little bit ironical? Still holds true though, I never believe any famous/wealthy person's 'story' , it's survivor bias 'You too can do this, you just gotta believe' - sure bud, for every one of you there's thousands that fail long before they make it.

Iirc, Nip made a thousand copies of his mixtape, and priced each at $100. When asked for this reasoning, he said that sure people can just go online and get the free version, but this is quality stuff. Jay Z later bought a hundred or so copies after hearing he priced each at $100. Not entirely sure, but there was an interview with Breakfast Club(?) where he talked all about it. RIP NIP
