Some of the most important things I learnt in philosophy class was that a) Socrates was short and ugly b) Socrates was jacked and a fantastic wrestler c) Socrates could have whatever man he wanted (he was also a pretty smart guy and may not have actually existed) Let this be a lesson to you

Funny, I've been mulling over a similar thought recently. I'm almost thirty, and I never got that "young man's bod" that boomers wish they still had. Do I really wanna look back on my life and not say "Man, I used to look good"? I don't plan on having a ripped jacked body like the one pictured, but I'd like to at least not look like a lump of shit.

Wow. Why doesn't anyone talk about this as one of the natural rights. Or more like natural anti-rights. You don't have the right to disgrace the body the universe gave you by not becoming mindblowingly fit.

Im 32 as we speak, saw this quote a few months ago and it really inspired me to get in proper shape. Because as stated I want to be at my peak physical form atleast once in my life, and I have been waaay to relaxed about it earlier. Quit smoking, started to run, and workout at home. Doing the 200 pushups app at the moment, and making great progress, in great part thnx to my man Socrates👍

The problem I have with this is that it can apply to everything on earth. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of baking pop-culture themed cakes. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of leaving random shiny things on your lawn to make ravens happy. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of telling their dog just how great they are. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of playing goofy italian car chase music while driving on the freeway. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of eating cheetos with a fork so that you don't get the cheesy crap all over your hands.
