Some context here as well as a disclaimer, these were not shot with the same scope, nor are they the same galaxy. The one on the left was taken with a 10" SCT and is a stack of around 40 images, the one on the right was taken with a 70mm refractor telescope, and is a stack of about 120 frames. Using the same equipment the picture on the right would be much more magnified, and barely fit in the frame, but could produce similar results from a quality/clarity standpoint. The main difference was learning how to remove light pollution in post processing and bring out details while reducing noise. I can do a lot better, and I plan learning more and more about how to get the perfect images.
