The idea of the third item, I think, is not to let yourself be pressured by others into a lifestyle that isn't for you if you truly, desperately do not want it.

Its not so much the weekly paycheck as it is the healthcare I need from my employer. I would definitely start my own business if I didn't have to figure out healthcare.

Yeah it's the carbs guys. Root vegetables, legumes, whole grains like oats, wheat and rice, nuts, fruit - that's what's really causing the obesity epidemic. Every time I see a fat person they are just chowing down on this stuff. It can't be the fatty meats, cheeses, fried foods, I mean that stuff is basically *health food* these days. What a time to be alive.

I'm sorry but this is the most stupid thing i've heard. Heroin and binge eating bad carbs sure, but a monthly salary? Really?

This is the author of the book "the Black swan." He is an investor and philosopher (or mathematician I guess since his study is of probability?). Anyways he's pretty eccentric but his books and perspectives are very interesting and I expect that this quote has less to do with criticism of everyday working people, and more to do with a criticism of the "golden handcuffs" mentality.

Heroin is the only thing that should be on there. There’s nothing wrong with a salary, as long as you aren’t living month to month. Not everyone can be an entrepreneur. Also, there’s nothing wrong with good carbohydrates, you just have to eat them in moderation. People think carbs are bad cause they make you fat, but they only make you fat because 90% of your diet is sugar.

His books while hard to digest open you to another perspective, it just so happens a lot of people in this thread could benefit from that. Food for thought
