I have done this many times. In the end, it didn't make goodbye any easier.

So fun story: I saw these guys live in Vegas a few years ago. Teller is not short. He's like 6 foot. Penn is just a fucking giant. I got their autographs and I told Teller "I've seen every episode of [Bullshit] twice!" And he goes "well that's twice more than I have" Edit: apparently Teller is 5'8. He really didn't seem that short in person. Maybe he was wearing lifted shoes.

I think this will also work well with trying to forget someone. I.e. a bad relationship or friend or trying to simplify your life. Imagine saying goodbye forever. Are you able to get over it?

Worst case scenarios just tend to pop into my mind sometimes where the end result is part or my whole family dying which results in a few minutes of grieving followed by trying to get out of that mindset and reminding myself that it probably will not/has not happened and everything's fine. Are these train of thoughts not normal....?

I used to do this thing where I'd use my hands to stretch my face, lips, nostrils and such into a grotesque appearance. I'd look in the mirror and say, "This is me. This is how I really look," and just dwell on it a couple moments. Then, I'd take my hands away, let my face snap back into place, and I was so happy to see myself.

I actually do the opposite of this. My roommates have turned into drunken slobs and I can't wait to get away from them.

I had to still say goodbye and it crushed me more when I realized I wasn't just imaginating it anymore.

I use this as a way to "re-set" my priorities and perspective. "Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly". Aurelius When I get depressed I imagine how much worse things could be, I picture it until I feel grateful to be in the situation I am actually in.

I’ve had many dreams that make me think my grandfather or grandmother have died, I wake up with tears in my eyes only to realize that it was only a dream. In that moment I feel a rush of relief, only to realize how hard its going to be to say goodbye. But it makes me cherish every moment with them always
